What educators are saying

My students loved being able to debate both sides of this issue. It made them think critically and work collaboratively to come up with their arguments.
So much FUN! My students enjoyed using this resource! They were committed to the resource and had no difficulty beginning. I have not taken the time to prepare this resource, so it was easy for me to use during difficult times.

-------------------------------

In this highly-engaging and Common-Core focused Patriots and Loyalists resource, students participate as either Patriots or Loyalists in a class debate!

Students become debaters and prepare written responses to questions, some take on the role of producers and create a "medium" to share their attitude of the movement (they can create a speech, a private letter, a journal entry, a "letter to the editor, etc.), and a handful of students become arbitrators (judges) and hear and evaluate the debate! The student arbitrators become experts on both sides of the issues (they examine all the documents!) and score which side makes a better argument!

Everything needed for this awesome activity is included - everything from student guidelines, rubrics, document note forms, and three primary source documents for each side that form the basis of their argument!

Very common-core focused! 44-pages of action-packed, debate-filled fun!

Enjoy!
