What educators are saying

My students loved this song and game. For 2 months afterward they walked around singing it, and constantly requested it. Thanks for a fun, engaging resource.
Students absolutely loved this game. There are so many ideas and ways to extend it. I was able to use it for multiple class periods.

    Description

Pass the Pumpkin is a fun singing game for elementary music class-- and it can help your kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students learn about beat v. rhythm or quarter and eighth notes! This accompanies the song and allow students to practice ta and titi. Perfect for engaging students during fall or Halloween music lessons.

This lesson pack has everything you need to teach the song, the singing game, steady beat, quarter and eighth notes, and even includes extension activities so that you can use this song with younger students AND older students.

There are 4 activities included in this bundle:

Pumpkin Vocalizations: Have students warm up by moving their voices in fun ways to match the pumpkin's path.

Pass the Pumpkin Presentation: Use the Google Slides presentation to teach students the song, the singing game, introduce beat v. rhythm, or introduce quarter and eighth notes. All the visuals are available to make teaching rhythm simple. Also includes option instrumentation options for younger and older students. (Sheet music included!)

Pumpkin Composition: After your students learn about the rhythm, use the composition cards to create rhythmic patterns! Create a B section, do dictation, or play on instruments during elementary music centers.

Pass the Pumpkin Worksheets: Finish up with print + go worksheets to practice rhythm! Includes steady beat charts, rhythm sorts, fill in the rhythm activities, and color by note. Perfect to use as an assessment or leave for a non music sub.
