What educators are saying

This was the perfect activity for the end of the school year as a culmination to all parts of speech we had learned throughout the year.

Description

This is a fun review craftivity students can create to show their understanding of five parts of speech – pronouns, adjectives, nouns, verbs, and adverbs.

Use the 3 ice cream scoops, topping, and cherry to create parts of a super sentence. They will write an adjective on the “topping,” and a noun, verb, and adverb on the three scoops. I have included a cherry that says “pronoun,” and a copy of blank cherries as well. If you wish, you can have students write the pronoun for the noun they used on the cherry, or they can leave the leave the cherry blank.

Blank ice cream scoops without parts of speech labels are included in case you'd like to switch things up or create your own version!

Afterwards, students will combine all the parts of speech (except the pronoun), and write a super sentence on the banana. For higher level students, you can have them expand the sentence as well to make it more detailed and interesting.

Layer the pieces on the bowl as shown in the picture. Write student name on the spoon and glue everything, including the title, on a construction paper.

You can also choose to copy all the pieces onto colored card stock to save time on coloring.

Perfect for a fun assessment on parts of speech!
