Partitioning Shapes BUNDLE Eureka Module 5 Topic C Lessons 7-9

This product doubles as full digital lessons for the Concept Development portion of Grade 1 Eureka Math and also includes independent practice slides after each lesson. No prep-work needed for 3-4 days of math lessons with 171 slides including 35 independent practice slides bundled at a big discounted rate! These lessons support instruction of geometric figures CCSS.1.G.3. It also incorporates CCSS Standard Mathematical Practice MP1 and MP7. It is designed for first grade (particularly Module 5 Topic C Lessons 7-9 for Eureka) but can also be used for second half of kindergarten. Topic C is all about decomposing shapes into equal or non equal parts, identifying those parts, and comparing sizes of these fractional pieces. And what better way to do that? With yummy foods of course! In lesson 7, the Math Detectives return to the Pizza Shape Parlor. This time they are investigating take-out orders from customers. They examine the orders at the pizza shop and as the pizza delivery happens and, with the help of your students, determine how to cut these composite shapes into equal parts. In lesson 8, the detectives introduce the concepts of halves and quarters with respect to circle shapes and rectangle shapes at the cafe through close examination of dividing cakes, pies, cupcakes, and donuts. Your students will participate as they identify "fair shares" for these yummy treats. In lesson 9, the Math Detectives take a close look at comparison of the sizes of these fair shares as more pastries at the cafe are divided up.

Use these lessons as whole group shared on your Interactive whiteboard in the classroom, shared on your screen on Google Meet or Zoom for distant learning, or as a small group lesson IN PRESENT MODE as a visual while teaching. Students will follow along using their individual whiteboards or notebooks. Each slide is annotated with dialogue in speech bubbles to guide your lesson, but feel free to make it your own! Each slide is designed to serve as a foundation for which math discourse in the classroom can build and grow. Students are encouraged to "turn and talk" to partners to discuss their mathematical thinking and share ideas.

After the lessons are the independent slides for students. You can assign these slides in Google Classroom or on Seesaw (or any other program that supports Google slide products). Simply hold "ctrl" to select the slides you want to assign, go to file and make a copy. From there you can assign as you normally would on your preferred digital platform.
