Description

Helping parents is not easy sometimes! This guide will be an excellent resource for you as you guide parents!

"What can I do at home to help my child learn to read?"

As a Reading Specialist, I hear this question frequently from parents. I created this guide to give parents information, activities, and suggestions for helping their children at home. This guide is perfect for parents because it explains early reading concepts in clear, easy-to-understand language. You don't have to be an education professional to understand this parent guide!

There are multiple ways to use this guide. Give this guide to 1st grade parents at the beginning of the school year to help them guide their children in reading at home. Or, give this guide to kindergarten parents at the end of the school year to help them give their child a head start in 1st grade. Depending on your preference, give parents a few pages at a time or all of the pages at once.

Suggestions for use:
* Give this entire guide to parents to allow them to reference it all year or all summer.
* Give out a page at a time with your weekly classroom newsletter.
* Give out parts of this guide at parent-teacher conferences.
* Use this guide to conduct parent orientations, trainings, and/or meetings.
