Families in my class responded positively to Math Check-In notes. It was exciting to see the improvement in student learning and performance as a result of sending home Math Check-Ins. Students would announce how they had been working at home with their parents and what they had accomplished.

Math Check-In notes include 2 printing options:

    • kindergarten notes with CCSS noted
    • notes with no standard noted (for states with independent standards, students performing below grade level, special education, or homeschool).

Original art hand drawn fish on each page.

    Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Count forward beginning from a given number within the known sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).
Understand the relationship between numbers and quantities; connect counting to cardinality.
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
