What educators are saying

This was a great little investigation that allowed my students to really see the relationships between parallel and non parallel lines cut by transversals.

Description

Parallel Lines Unit Three: Parallel Lines #2: Angles Formed by Parallel Lines Investigation, Summary Notes, Practice and Assignment

This is the second set of notes for the Parallel Lines and Transversals Unit of a High School Geometry Class.

It includes three parts:

1. An Investigation that has students comparing the angles formed when non-parallel lines are intersected by a transversal with parallel lines intersected by a transversal. This includes asking students to draw the lines, number and measure the angles as well as to compare those measurements and draw conclusions. I have included an annotated version for the teacher.

2. A page of notes that summarizes the relationships and measures for quick reference for students.. This is great for projection using interactive projectors, smart boards or other projection devices.

3. Student Homework Assignment There is also a completely worked teacher answer key.

This is a comprehensive way to continue a new unit! It covers the concepts of:
1. What happens when a transversal intersects non-parallel lines?
2. What happens when a transversal intersects parallel lines?
3. Identifying the types and relationships in different types of diagrams.
4. How to solve algebraic problems that prove the lines are parallel.

The examples and the assignment practice all of the main concepts presented.
