Description

This is a structured paragraph writing template outline/ paragraph graphic organizer that can be used and re-used throughout the school year to build on your students’ paragraph writing skills. This paragraph graphic organizer can be digital or printable and is a great writing resource to use for paragraph of the week. This paragraph graphic organizer is intentionally structured to TEACH the paragraph writing process so that students understand and practice each key component of a paragraph: 

  • Making a strong claim in their topic sentence
  • Embedding quotes that support their claim
  • Proving their claim through thorough analysis
  • Seamlessly concluding their paragraph

This paragraph writing template teaches the writing process: The outline features step-by-step instructions and tips to help students effectively craft each sentence of their paragraph. As well, sentence starters are provided throughout the outline to further support students who may struggle with getting started. This paragraph graphic organizer also supports students with the skills of paragraph editing. And yes! It includes a detailed paragraph writing rubric that students familiarize themselves with so that they improve their writing each time they write a paragraph.
