Description
I created this sheet to give my students an opportunity to practice writing topic and conclusion sentences, which I realized were often missing from their writing.
In the beginning, I use the familiar analogy of a cheeseburger, explaining that the topic/conclusion sentences are like the bun.
Topics are student friendly (the best food, cell phones in school, etc.), but the last one is geared toward a writing task that followed this activity that focused on the differences between the ancient Persian and Athenian governments. (This activity is also available on my page.)
