What educators are saying

One of the best resources I have purchased on TPT. The students had so much fun while learning about the Panhellenic Games. They wanted to play again and again.
I used this resource with my ancient civilizations class of sixth graders. They loved it. I don't leave reviews very often, but this resource was engaging and fun for both my students and myself! This is a top-tier resource. Thank you!

Description

This no-prep, game-based Ancient Greece Olympics Simulation will be the highlight of your Ancient Greece unit! In this simulation with printable and digital options, students will "compete" in 8 popular events from the Panhellenic Games and answer trivia questions about the Greeks and Ancient Olympics!

Simulations can be such fun and meaningful activities, but they often take a lot of work and preparation to set up, which is why we did all of the work for you! You don't need to cut, purchase, or set-up anything to do this simulation, simply present the slideshow to your students and copy or share the handout with them.

This simulation features eight different rounds of competition. In each round, students will do the following:

  • Learn about a different event from the Panhellenic Games (trumpeters and heralds, long jump, discus, footrace, javelin, wrestling, chariot race, and pankration)
  • Participate in a classroom-friendly version of the event (either using a word scramble puzzle, rolling of the dice, playing Four Corners, or participating in a Rock, Paper, Scissors Tournament)
  • Answer a trivia question

The slides that facilitate the simulation are organized and take students step-by-step through the entire process. At the end of each round, students will calculate how many points they earned. Finally, the slideshow ends with some optional discussion questions you can use at the end of the simulation.

This epic Panhellenic Games Simulation includes the following components:

  • Detailed Teacher Guide (PDF)
  • Olympics Simulation Slideshow (Editable Google Slideshow with 61 slides)
  • Panhellenic Games Scorecard (Student handouts available for printable PDF and editable Google Doc)
