Ovid's Minerva and Arachne : Adapted Latin Reading Packet (Cambridge Stage 21)
- PDF
Description
This reading packet supports the grammar and culture covered in Stage 21 of Cambridge Latin Course, 5th edition. Students will read translated portions of Ovid’s telling of the Minerva and Arachne myth, as well as completing a fill-in-the-blank translation from a simplified version of Metamorphoses. This adapted reading packet is part of a series written to help transition students from CLC to authentic Latin texts.
All of the grammar is adapted to be accessible to students at Stage 21 of CLC. In an effort to remain as truthful to the original text as possible, there is vocabulary in the packet which is not present in CLC’s textbook dictionaries. Students will need a full Latin dictionary or access to an online dictionary to complete this activity.
Like many classical myths, the myth of Arachne and Minerva references mature topics. Please read a translation of Ovid Metamorphoses 6:1-145 or view the preview before purchasing to decide whether this is right for your class.
