Outer Space: 5 Science Partner Play Scripts with a Comprehension Check Worksheet

These five partner plays are intended to be used as fluency-building activities that students can read with a partner. This set of scripts focuses mainly on the solar system, including the sun, the moon, the planets, comets, asteroids, and meteorites. It also includes a BONUS question/answer worksheet. After reading each script, students answer the questions that accompany that particular script.

This resource is available in multiple formats. Each teacher gets to choose the format that best meets his/her students' needs. You will choose between the printable partner plays and the paperless version that uses Google Slides. Each script is exactly two pages, making it easy to print them back-to-back on a single page.

These scripts require minimal teacher support, thereby allowing teachers to work with other small groups. For teachers who implement reading centers, these plays are perfect. These scripts are also ideal for parents who are looking for fun at-home reading activities that parents and children can read together. If you have a child who is reluctant to read at home, I encourage you to give these scripts a try!

This set includes these five independent scripts. The main idea of each script is outlined below:

• Sun and Stars (the sun is a star, all stars form and die)
• The Moon (how the moon is different from Earth- no sound, no atmosphere, no daylight, extreme temperatures, etc.)
• Comets, Meteoroids, and Asteroids (the characteristics of each)
• The Rocky Planets (facts about Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Earth)
• The Gas Giants (facts about Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, & Neptune)
