Ornithology Student Bird Walk Observation Record
- Word Document File
Description
This is a 4 page booklet that I created to use with my high school Ornithology class. We take class field trip walks during our block periods. Student use binoculars and we walk to different places to look at what birds are around us.
In this booklet , page one has a place for student name, date, where we walked, and weather conditions. On that page is a table of some of the more common birds that we see.
On page 2 is a table with various codes. Students use these codes instead of tally marks to record birds they see. They record this information on page one. I like this system better, because it allows students to be more analytical about what they see.
Page 3 has a place for students to do field sketches of their birds.
Page 4 is a place for students to write a reflective paragraph about their walk experience.
When I use this booklet, I usually shrink it down to 1/2 size so that all four pages will fit on one piece of paper and fold into a booklet.
You will receive a 4 page Word document, so you may edit it as you need to for your class.
