Can you safely navigate your origami frog through the obstacle course?
The Frog Obstacle Course has elements of STEAM, blended learning, thematic units, and problem-based learning wrapped together to make something 100% so cool!
Here we have kid-built engineering, standards-based independent challenges, and hands-on learning adaptable for your class, grade level, or group.
But wait . . . you have to earn your spot on the “frogstacle course” by completing independent, standards-based activities from the choice board first!
We don’t just give away fun around here . . .
Use this unit as a full class enrichment, as a talent pool opportunity, or as an after school STEAM challenge. Students select any number of standards-based tasks from a choice board (frog themed) in order to earn their spot in the STEAM engineering design challenge—the kid-built frog obstacle course. Finally, we host an authentic evaluation experience by inviting another grade level (as well as parents) to try out and rate our course. Adding a layer to the authenticity, we’ve also asked for donations to contribute to a conservation fund for an endangered frog species.
This unit provides self-directed challenges based on learning styles, engineering problem-solving, critical thinking and graphic design opportunities, and invites creativity.
You get the following:
• Frog-themed choice board based on different learning styles.
• 8 Self-guided challenge activities for students.

Time: 6 hours or much more depending on the requirements you set; we ended up spreading this out over the entire 3rd quarter of the school year!
