    Description

This ordering adjectives bundle has everything you need to keep your students engaged as you teach them how adjectives should be ordered in sentences. The activities make learning the rules about ordering adjectives fun and easy! Students love the activities while teachers love the convenience of these no-prep resources that can be used year after year! Playground slides are used as a visual to help students remember that there are rules about how adjectives should "slide into sentences". These activities can be used for test prep, review, or introduction of the skill. MANY practice opportunities are included in this bundle.

The adjective order highlighted in these resources are:

    1. opinion
    2. size
    3. age
    4. shape
    5. condition
    6. color
    7. origin
    8. material
    9. purpose

What's included... To gain a better idea of everything included, please check out the individual PREVIEW for each resource:

    45-slide PowerPoint

    • Ideal for introducing this topic to students!
    • The nine classifications of adjectives are introduced and practiced.
    • The PowerPoint ends with several slides where students identify the best adjective order to complete a sentence.
    • You have my permission to convert this to Google Slides, if you wish.
    • It comes with a matching 4-page companion handout (The companion handout includes both a printable version and a Google Slides version.)

    24 Task Cards

    • 16 Fill-in-the-Blank cards
    • 8 Multiple-Choice cards
    • You get to choose whether to use the printable version, the Google Slides version, the Google Forms version, or the Easel version.

    Foldable/Sorting Activity

    • The first nine panels of the foldable focus on one category of adjective.
    • Students begin by determining the classification of 42 adjectives, recording each adjective on the appropriate panel. They also independently generate two adjectives and a sentence for each panel.
    • The final panel of the foldable contains 6 fill-in-the-blank sentences.
    • The finished foldable becomes a great reference tool!
    • You get to choose whether to use the printable foldable or the Google version.

    Worksheet and Craftivity

    • Students complete a 10-item worksheet where they must add adjectives into sentences in the correct order.
    • They use their worksheet answers to assemble a craftivity that shows how the adjectives "slide" into the sentences.

Please note! There are two suggested orders that exist. One suggested order places "age" earlier than the other. For these resources, I decided to use the order that is listed in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and the Cambridge Dictionary.

Here's what teachers like you have to say about using these ordering-adjectives activities with their students:

⭐️ Fast Lane to Success said, "I am not a fan of this standard, but of course teach it anyway... It made a boring grammar standard more engaging and fun to learn as well as teach. I will be using this again!"

⭐️ Lee Ann J. said, "This is a very confusing skill, but this resource organized the material in a way that was easy to follow and made the concept easier to understand."

⭐️ Emily B. said, " I couldn't find many resources on this topic until I found this one! Just what I needed with plenty of options to choose from for both whole class and small group."

⭐️ Brittny F. said, "This lesson was extremely helpful and saved me a great amount of time while planning! My students absolutely loved the colorful PowerPoint and task cards, too!"

⭐️ Leanne M. said, "Absolutely fabulous! This was extremely beneficial for my 4th graders and they loved learning about the order of adjectives. They pull out their ordering adjectives folded book often when they are writing. A very worthwhile resource to purchase! "

⭐️ Margaret C. said, "This is a tricky standard and the extra work that this lesson provided was a huge help. Highly recommend!"
