    Description

Check out these engaging Order of Operations activities! This bundle combines two resources: clever print or digital task cards and an engaging digital escape room, all centered around the concept of order of operations. Our Mini Math Missions and digital escape rooms are great worksheet alternatives for practicing and reviewing evaluating expressions using order of operations.

    Order of Operations Task Cards:

Replace mundane worksheets with these captivating 5th-grade math activities! Our Mini Math Missions task cards are not your typical math problems; they are clever puzzles, games, and logic challenges that make learning fun. Students will evaluate expressions with parentheses and brackets as they unlock vaults, prove their identities to undercover agents, and much more.

    Key Features of Task Cards:

    • Engaging Challenges: Each task card presents a unique challenge, ensuring that learning is always exciting.
    • Math Puzzles and Games: Students will tackle logic puzzles, single challenge math escape rooms, and more, all while reinforcing their order of operations skills.
    • Whole Numbers Only: All expressions and equations in this activity pack use positive whole numbers, making it accessible and effective for 5th-grade math learners.
    • No Exponents: These task cards are tailored to 5th-grade math standards, and they do not include exponents.
    • Versatile Use: Use these task cards throughout the year for warm-ups, exit tickets, review sessions, enrichment activities, or just for some math-themed fun!

There are 24 unique math mission task cards in black and white, color, and digital (Google Slides™) format. Various levels of difficulty allow for differentiation and encourage collaboration, active learning, and outside-of-the-box thinking.

Operation Restore Order - Order of Operations Escape Room:

Agent Order of Operations Seven, or 0007 for short, is in a tight spot, and your fifth-grade students are the key to helping capture mathematical villain Kay Oss! This digital escape room is not only easy to implement but also highly engaging for students. The clues are automated using a Google Form™, so no email addresses are required. There is virtually no prep & the activity is self-checking!

    In this adventure, students will:

    • Solve problems using the four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) while following the order of operations.
    • Tackle multi-step word problems that involve the four operations.
    • Evaluate expressions using brackets and parentheses.
    • Strategically place parentheses in problems to make expressions true, using their critical thinking skills.
    • Crack substitution ciphers and Caesar Shift ciphers to decode hidden messages.

    This comprehensive product includes:

    • A mission letter to your students, outlining their assignment.
    • A dossier on the mathematical villain Kay Oss, also known as Chaos.
    • Detailed instructions for completing the ciphers used in the escape room.
    • Optional decorations for creating "Top Secret" folders or envelopes.
    • A Quick Start guide to get your mission underway.
    • Full answer keys to unravel the mysteries.
    • Success signs for students to celebrate their triumphant escape.
    • A QR code and link to the Google Form™ that students will use to complete the escape room (no Gmail™ accounts required).

Please carefully view the previews for each of the included activities. These order of operations challenges are the perfect way to challenge your 5th graders and keep their skills fresh throughout the year!
