Description

This opinion writing resource includes step-by-step, photo directions that walk the teacher through the opinion writing process. The writing unit begins with printable writing process posters and an interactive writing process flip book for the students to create as a personal reference tool.

As the unit continues, students use topic ideas (included) to form their opinion. They pre-write using the included graphic organizer. This graphic organizer transforms into a color-coded paragraph organizing tool! Students use the included color-coded template to color their graphic organizers and follow the provided paragraph template. The template uses words AND colors to walk the students through the 5 paragraph essay.

3 mini lessons are provided to further guide the writing process. These also work as reference tools for the students to use during the entire year.

After students revise & edit using the included checklists, the teacher can choose one of the provided publishing ideas, so students can share their work!

The teacher uses the included, common core aligned rubric to grade the students' work.

This resource uses the Common Core Standards and the writing process to walk students through the entire opinion essay. With the provided topic ideas, this resource can be used throughout the entire year!
