Description

October Daily Journal Writing Prompts

With classroom time at a premium, I created these prompts to engage my students in daily, purposeful writing. This download includes 20 journal writing prompt slides that can be displayed daily on the whiteboard. In addition, the prompts are also provided in a task card format. These can be used in a writing center or as a stand-alone activity for early finishers. Also included is a Journal Writing Checklist that can be glued into the front of your students’ journal notebooks. The prompts and Journal Writing Checklist address many of the 3rd-5th Grade English and Language Arts Writing Common Core Standards, relate to historical events and dates, as well as promote higher level thinking. Note: If you are trying to conserve colored ink, the task cards and Journal Writing Checklist print out beautifully in grayscale! Try printing them on colored paper for a decorative look.
