What educators are saying

Thank you for such a great resource and my students loved all the wonderful activities and information.

Description

In this resource, students create a Big Book from construction paper, a group mural, a coloring book OR do all three activities! Children explore four ocean zones. They are TIDE POOL, THE SUNLIT ZONE, THE TWILIGHT ZONE, and THE DARK ZONE. The information is written in simple, little kid language. Following step by step illustrations or tracing simple templates, children create the following animals

1. Hermit Crab

2. Anemone

3. Sea Star

4. Dolphin

5. Clownfish

6. Sea Turtle

7. Orca Whale

8. Hammerhead Shark

9. Blue Whale

10. Sperm Whale

11. Giant Squid,

12. Hatchet Fish

13. Lantern Fish

14. Red Comb Jellyfish

15. Angler Fish

A full color teacher read aloud introduces each ocean animal and the environment in which it inhabits. The teacher book is intended to be a shared reading experience and young children are not expected to read the words. The student book is written simply and in such a way that children can take their book home and share their knowledge with family and friends.

A short discussion on how to preserve our oceans is included as well as a simple writing experience asking children to think of ways in which they can help our oceans.

If you prefer to have a print and color activity, this is also included and can be used as a stand alone activity or a supplement to the big book.
