What educators are saying

Great resource to have when working on describing, function or simply making sentences. Pictures are real and engaging.
I enjoyed the use of real life pictures to incorporate into this learning. It is straightforward and helps my students understand vocabulary of everyday objects, the verbs associated and the relationship between the two!

Object-Function: ‘’What is It For?”

This activity was designed to teach students to identify the function of an object and express it into a sentence.

Object function is a very important speech therapy term. It links a verb to an object. This means that we are linking a function or verb to an item. This is a very big and necessary step in language development.

It is the fact that we see many children can name a lot of different items (nouns), but they don't use verbs. With this activity, you help the children to learn to use the verbs and take their language to a next level.

Level 1: Starts with a matching activity, where child matches the object to the function. You help the children to know the nouns and the verbs.

For example:

An apple - to eat

A pencil - to write

Level 2: Make the 2 different forms of sentences:

For example:

‘’A bed’’

What is a bed for?

What do we sleep on?

Level 3: Answer the questions, using the cards.

Level 4: Answer the questions, but not using the cards.

Level 5: Use the real items: real apple, real pencil… and put this activity into the real life. Ask a question whenever you do something, and whenever you see any object. Please remember to practice with lots of repetition.
