OT Handwriting Legibility Rubric for IEP data collection (print)

This thorough handwriting rubric will help you provide measurable data to support IEP goal tracking/progress monitoring by pinpointing different aspects of legibility. Using this rubric each session will assist in providing consistent grading and data to support and guide interventions.

The rubric is broken down into the following categories for PRINT [manuscript] writing:

-Letter Formation

-Letter Sizing

-Letter Spacing

-Word Spacing

-Line Adherence

-Overall legibility

There are 2 versions of this rubric:

1) SUBJECTIVE: uses terms such as "most", "some", "few", etc. with correlating scale terms "good", "fair", "poor." This is for therapists who prefer not to get into detailed numbers, but still provides a consistent and specific rubric.

2) OBJECTIVE: detailed breakdown of each letter/word of the sample to obtain percentages to allow for the most objective level of data collection.

This is a PRINTABLE PDF packet. I have found it very helpful to print a copy and attach it directly to a student's handwriting sample! That way, the sample and the scoring are in the same place.
