This Power-Point presentation contains 135 slides to guide you and your students through an in depth understanding of Op Art as well as the creation of one of five possible Op Art projects! That’s right; this is really five presentations in one, as you’ll learn how to create five different types of Op Art in your classroom. My students were instructed to choose to create two the five. You’ll start by learning about the key artists associated with this 1960’s art movement which is still very much alive. The presentation then transitions into the main categories or reoccurring themes in Op Art. Next the presentation shows you step by step (and with video links) how to accomplish some of these mind bending and vertigo inducing optical illusions. I hope you and your students have as much fun and deep learning with this project as much do. Enjoy!

Slides 1-8: define Op Art, how it got its’ name, the key players including Victor Vasarely, and Bridget Riley. Short bios are included as well as plenty of images of their most important works of art.

Slides 9-64: shows all that Op Art has to offer as the art movement is grouped into five main categories including: Movement, Vibrations, Warping Forms, Hidden Images, and After-Images. Around ten examples of each are shown as well as directions for how to view some of the more challenging images.

Slides 65-134: illustrates how to create five different types of Op Art. Everyday classroom art materials such as pencils, colored pencils, markers, etc. are used to create the masterpieces. Step by step directions, numerous examples, and even plenty of video links are included to insure success. These five types of drawings include: Warping Worms, 3D Hand, Helicopter Drawing, Ricochet Drawings, Grid Drawing, as well as variations and combinations of these.

Slides 135-136: include a list of goals for the students as well as a grading sheet for the teacher to use if you so desire.
