Description

O Canada! Take your students on an exciting journey across Canada with these sixteen informative calculator riddles! In addition to providing students with an opportunity to practice a variety of mathematics skill, the O, Canada! calculator riddles introduce your class to this great country that not only is the world’s second-largest country in total land area, but also shares the world’s longest land border with the United States.

Riddle Packet: The sixteen riddles are presented in a five-page packet. The riddles are numbered from 1 to 16, but may be completed in any order. Space is provided for students to write the final number that appears on the calculator screen, as well as the word that is revealed when the calculator is turned over. The packet may be used each day for a few minutes, as a weekly activity, or enjoyed in its entirety at one time.

Riddle Cards: The riddles are also presented on full-color cards. There are two riddles per page. The sixteen cards are meant to be cut apart. Most teachers choose to laminate the riddle cards to ensure greater durability. The cards make an excellent independent center. The cards are not numbered so that teachers may use them in any order.

What a great way to bring some social studies into your mathematics class...or some mathematics into your social studies class!

This calculator riddle packet is also the perfect addition to a substitute teacher's "bag of tricks".

Use the calculator riddles as you celebrate National Flag Of Canada Day (February), Nova Scotia Heritage Day (February), Yukon Heritage Day (February), National Aboriginal Day (June), Canada Day (July), or any other national or regional Canadian holidays.

Homeschoolers will find this packet the perfect way to launch an in depth study of Canada.
