Nutrient Basics Covers:

- Why do we need nutrients?

- Nutrient Definition

- Carbohydrates

- Fats (Lipids)

- Minerals (micro and macro)

- Vitamins (fat (D, E, A, K) and water soluble (C, B complex)

- Water

- Graphic Organizer

- Assignment

How do I use this?

Option 1:

- Present slides 1-12 to students.

- While presenting, students complete the graphic organizer (print slide 13).

- When finished, have students complete the assignment (print slide 14).

- I have my students glue the graphic organizer and assignment in their notebook. I grade notebooks weekly.

Option 2 (sub option):

- Have students read through slides 1-12 on their own or with a partner.

- Have students complete graphic organizer while reading (print slide 13 ahead of time).

- When finished, students complete the assignment (print slide 14 ahead of time).

- I have my students glue the graphic organizer and assignment in their notebook. I grade notebooks weekly.

Additional Notes:

- This was designed for my 7th graders. It does not go into extreme details. It is really the basics. They go deeper when they take nutrition in high school.

- I do not go into detail about different carbs in this resource.

- The content and assignment are in one file.
