Description

Order in the court! What would happen if Jack sued Jill, or Humpty Dumpty sued all the King's Men? And what happened before and after the events of a nursery rhyme? Find out by using these improvisation/drama and writing templates for 2 scene types: "Nursery Rhymes on Trial" and "Mother Goose Academy".

This packet includes the following Nursery Rhyme themed activities to use in your drama and reading classes:

  1. Instructions of all the activities (you can read through it in the above preview packet)
  2. A lesson using slides, videos, a worksheet, and a song to help students identify the R.O.O.T. of a story: relationships, objectives, obstacles, and tactics
  3. Instructions on how to practice and perform the "Nursery Rhymes on Trial" scenes
  4. Templates for 7 different "Nursery Rhymes on Trial" scenes for small groups. These templates set up the structure of the scene and how to use actual courtroom drama language (Rhymes: Humpty Dumpty, Jack & Jill, Little Miss Muffet, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater, The Queen of Hearts, and Three Blind Mice)
  5. Template for "Mother Goose Academy" scenes for small groups (with optional puppet) where students write and perform what happened before and after a chosen nursery rhyme, fleshing out the events of the story (a sample from "Little Boy Blue" is included).
  6. 23 optional nursery rhymes with coloring pages and national standards. These can be used in either scene type.
