Description

I Can Do Numbers is a NO-PREP resource to get your children “showing their understanding” of numbers and sets in a simple format so everyone can be successful. Children simply draw a set to represent the given number four times. This flexible resource is perfect for building number sense yet gives children a chance to make choices and be creative. It's not just count and circle the number or count and color. Designed for Kindergarten but could be used in Pre-K also. With Pre-K if you are only working with the smaller numbers, stickers would be a fun option to show the sets.

Brainstorm and make a large class anchor chart about each number including ten frames, tally marks, dice configurations, and base ten blocks. I usually do one number a day. Then students can make their own personal anchor charts or “I Can Do Numbers” booklet with the provided templates. This is a great introduction to a “4 Square” Graphic Organizer Template.

All templates are provided in 3 different fonts to suit your style or need- a thick font, a simple primary font, and a bubble font.

First are the anchor charts. Margins are as close to the edges as possible giving children maximum drawing space. Again all numbers are in each font- take your pick!

Second are templates if you want to compile the pages into a booklet. Children and parents love the booklet. More importantly it is an organized way to show growth. Most children improve tremendously from the first page to the last. Some even begin to label their drawings! Included are a choice of 4 covers with different fonts. For the booklet, the left margin is larger giving you space to staple the pages without interfering with the drawing template.

Need to differentiate? Encourage writers/readers to add labels or sentences to their drawings.
