Description
Use this flipchart to help your students create an original short story. First, students choose four numbers (1-5). Then, you reveal who their character will be (1st number), what their setting will be (2nd number) an object that must be included in their story (3rd number) and their theme (4th number). A free domain 10 minute adventure style song has been added and can be played to inspire your students as they write their original short stories. I've used this many times and have seen students who always have blank pages come up with amazing plot lines with a gentle push from this activity. I also have them return to their number stories throughout our short story unit and have them edit for setting, characterization, etc.
