Description

This file contains a 4 page assessment on number and operations in base ten, with a 1 page correlating rubric to follow.

The assessment determines student understanding using the following three domains : procedural fluency, conceptual understanding, and mathematical reasoning. Student understanding is further broken down on the rubric according to the following levels of understanding: 4- Exceeding Standard, 3- Meets Standard, 2-Developing Standard, or 1- Does Not Meet Standard.

I designed this assessment to evaluate my 2nd graders understanding of place value concepts, within the range of 120. I chose to give this assessment to my students 2x. Once as a pre-assessment, and once as a post-assessment. I felt like this would be the most accurate measure of student growth over the course of the unit.

Count within 1000; skip-count by 5s, 10s, and 100s.
Read and write numbers to 1000 using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form.
Compare two three-digit numbers based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
