Description
These set combines three of my best selling products.
The Rekenrek Task Cards (include all 6 sets), Subitizing Dot Task Cards and the Digital (or you can print these) Response sheets for Subitizing practice/assessments. For more information about each of these please select the specific product listing in the bundle.
Each of these products can be used during number talks in a whole group setting. Even though these are not digital products, you can use these during live google meets or zooms to have number talks as well with students. Students can make their own rekenreks from pipe cleaners and beads. I've seen some great tutorials on pinterest.
You can use these task cards during whole group, small, group, math stations.
Dot Cards are used to build number sense.
I use these during Number Talks. I show the card and then ask students "How many do you see?" "How do you see that many?" and allow students to explain if they counted one to one or saw a group of 4 and another group of 3 and counting on to find the answer 7. Students may also say they saw 3 and 3 more and know it's doubles, 3 and 3 is 6, etc.
For the Rekenrek Task Cards I have students use their rekenreks to show the number find their answer and they can then explain how they found the answer and what they observed while using manipulatives (beads on rekenrek) to show their thinking.
For students that enjoy hands on learning you can place these cards in a math station and then have students recreate these number formations with counters or any manipulative of your choice.
PRO TIP:
After using these in the classroom for awhile consider printing a set for each student to take home to “show off” how great they are at subitizing dot cards. Use the word subitizing and tell them that their parents will be impressed with the use of that vocabulary word as well. They may even teach their parents something new and you know students love that!
