Description

This notes outline accompanies a prezi (link included) that guides students to define fission and fusion, identify their reactions and the energy involved, explore real-world applications, and summarize the differences between them. Several short video links are embedded to help students visualize the processes, as well as information presented by scientists involved with nuclear energy. Day 1: Fission definitions, reactions, forces involved, and historical significance. Day 2: How nuclear power plants work, where they are located, types of radiation and uses in medicine and radiometric dating. Day 3: Video clips on pros and cons of nuclear energy- complete a comparison chart Day 4: The fusion process and future possible technologies to use it as an energy source. Conclude with a writing to learn section comparing fission and fusion
