Description

The following is a two-part Power Point presentation and accompanying bookmark assessments on nonfiction organization and the Dewey Decimal System.

The first part of the 17 slide presentation is an introduction on how nonfiction is organized versus fiction. The second part introduces the Dewey Decimal system and has a slide explaining several subjects for each hundreds category.

I usually do each part of this presentation as its own lesson, but you could do it in one sitting, especially if it is for review.

Accompanying the power point presentation are a set of bookmarks that I use as exit tickets for assessment. There are also non-assessment bookmarks included that you could hand out for fun for students to take home. The assessment bookmarks are differentiated. There are many ways you could use them and many options for you to choose from included.

One of the ways we differentiate in my district is providing students with a choice, so there are two different graphics students could choose from for each bookmark.

There are 29 pages of bookmarks and 17 pages to the Power Point presentation.

Oh! I also forgot to mention that you can print out the individual slides of the power point presentation and use them for Dewey Decimal Hundreds posters!
