Nonfiction Rubric Packet (Lucy Calkins Reading Workshop CCSS Assessment)

These rubrics have been designed based on Lucy Calkins Navigating Nonfiction unit from her Units of Study for Reading Workshop Grades 3-5, but can be adapted for any nonfiction unit in reading workshop. These rubrics are aligned to CCSS. The levels on the rubrics work like a continuum of understanding and development...This helps you differentiate and plan small group or individualized instruction that takes students to the next level on the rubrics. There is a presentation rubric that can function as a performance assessment and can utilized for social studies presentations as well. We have also included small group/one-on-one teaching tips to guide your instruction once you see which level on the rubric students are at. We have also included a reading log and reading rate rubric to utilize if you're incorporating this into a reading workshop or balanced literacy curriculum.
