Description
This PowerPoint presentation can be used as a quick review or as a way to teach the students about non-fiction text features before reading nonfiction and informational texts. For example, I showed my 8th grade students this PowerPoint before we began reading The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens. As I went through the PowerPoint, the students wrote the word and their purpose into a "Non-fiction Text Features Booklet." After they finished taking notes, they were given time in class to either draw pictures of each word or cut and paste examples from magazines. Their booklets now serve the purpose of a study tool for upcoming tests that will include text features.
