What educators are saying

This resource is great for students who are learning to write. It helps with understanding parts of a sentence and does a good job with gradually building students' writing skills.
This is such a great writing curriculum for my Special Education students. I like that it's broken up into 3 main parts, all benefitting writing instruction. Thank you!

QUICK OVERVIEW

This resource contains 3 products.

★ No Prep Writing Curriculum- 90 lessons. The first 45 lessons focus on writing great sentences and grammar. Students learn to write a very basic paragraph. This version is better for students who need a lot of repetition.

★ Comprehensive Writing Bundle-This version teaches the first 45 lessons from No Prep Writing Curriculum but in 21 lessons. Then, students move into expository writing for 18 lessons, opinion wiring for 12 lessons, 5 paragraph essays for 10 lessons, and narrative writing for 20 days.

Research Writing-This is a guide for teaching students how to write a nonfiction paper or book. I complete these steps as a class. Most classes will need complete guidance through the entire process more than once. With each new topic, offer less teaching, but more support.

Comprehensive Writing Bundle
This is a HUGE bundle with everything that you need to teach writing for 2nd or 3rd grade. Throughout the entire bundle, students will continue to practice labeling parts of speech in a sentence as part of their warm-up. Daily lesson plans are included for 81 lessons. Please view the preview for a better idea of what is included.

This bundle contains 5 units.

Unit 1: Sentence Writing and Grammar
This unit beings at the very beginning teaching kids how to write a basic sentence and ends with students writing complex sentences using nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositional phrases. Students will also learn these parts of speech and how to use them correctly in their writing.

Unit 2: Expository Writing
Students learn what expository text is and how to write an expository paragraph. As students learn about each part of a paragraph, students practice each part. Paragraph frames are included to help students gain mastery and confidence in their writing. Keep the paragraphs students write at the end of the unit for unit 4. Students will take their writing and transform it into a 5 paragraph essay.

Unit 3: Opinion Writing
Students learn how to write a strong opinion and a persuasive paragraph. They will learn how to give reasons to support their opinions. Keep the paragraphs students write at the end of the unit for unit 4. Students will take their writing and transform it into a 5 paragraph essay.

Unit 4: 5 Paragraph Essays
Students will learn how to take the basic paragraph they wrote in the expository and opinion units and turn them into 5 paragraph essays. A completed example is included for teacher information and it can also be used as an anchor chart.

Unit 5: Narrative Writing
Students will learn how to write a "picture" sentence vs. a "telling" sentence. This will teach students how to add descriptions to their stories. They will also learn how to use dialogue in their writing. At the end of the unit, students will be able to write a personal narrative and a creative narrative.
