What educators are saying

This was an amazing resource to use with my students. I added my own notes to it BUT the labs were easy to accomplish with house hold items, and the worksheets had necessary practice problems to drive the idea home.
These activities are very nice to use to help review the scientific method and graphing techniques while also teaching Newton's Laws. The graphing activities are also great for students who are absent.

    Individual Descriptions:

    • First Law: Hands-On Stations: EASY PREP Newton's First Law lab stations with EASY materials! Students play with common supplies to experience Newton's 1st Law of Motion firsthand.
    • First Law: Graphing Inertia: 2 Versions! Use a real-world example to support understanding of Newton's First Law of Motion and inertia. Students GRAPH car speed versus braking distance, complete a C-E-R, and answer analysis questions. Includes digital Google option.
    • Second Law: Graphing F=MA: Use examples from sports to graph Newton's Second Law F = MA. After this activity, students will understand the relationship between the variables force, mass, and acceleration. Includes digital Google option.
    • Second Law: Hands-On F=MA Lab: Answers the question, "What effect does MASS have on the FORCE needed to move an object?" Have fun with Newton's Second Law with this 2-part hands-on investigation. Uses easy-to-obtain supplies.
    • Third Law: 2 Truths & A Lie Critical Thinking: Students are provided with 9 simple scenarios. Each is followed by 3 statements, two of which are true and one that's a lie. Students determine the LIE and then answer follow-up questions regarding forces. Includes digital Google option.
    • Third Law: Hands-On Stations: EASY PREP Newton's Third Law lab stations with EASY SUPPLIES! Students play with common supplies to experience Newton's 3rd Law of Motion firsthand.
    • Review: Funny Poster Project (with video option): Many humorous situations can relate to Newton's Laws of Motion. In this project, students create a Newton’s Laws poster or video by compiling several FUNNY pictures that are examples of each law. Think America's Funniest Home Videos, "epic fail" videos, or funny memes - all high interest for kids.

    NGSSMS-PS2-2
Plan an investigation to provide evidence that the change in an object’s motion depends on the sum of the forces on the object and the mass of the object. Emphasis is on balanced (Newton’s First Law) and unbalanced forces in a system, qualitative comparisons of forces, mass and changes in motion (Newton’s Second Law), frame of reference, and specification of units. Assessment is limited to forces and changes in motion in one-dimension in an inertial reference frame, and to change in one variable at a time. Assessment does not include the use of trigonometry.
    NGSSMS-PS2-1
Apply Newton’s Third Law to design a solution to a problem involving the motion of two colliding objects. Examples of practical problems could include the impact of collisions between two cars, between a car and stationary objects, and between a meteor and a space vehicle. Assessment is limited to vertical or horizontal interactions in one dimension.
