What educators are saying

I appreciate the historical text prior to the questions so the students have more information prior to watching the video. The questions are well thought out
Was a perfect guide to go along with the movie Newsies on our musical unit. Students were easily able to follow along and complete the guide.

Description

A musical based on the New York City newsboy strike of 1899. When young newspaper sellers are exploited beyond reason by their bosses they set out to enact change and are met by the ruthlessness of big business. This movie gives students a glimpse of what life was like for people during the industrial revolution (tenements, child labor, big business, unions, yellow journalism, etc.).

Before watching the movie, students are asked to read a short reading about the newsies, which will give them a historical context for the video. This 15-question movie guide will help your students get the most out of this powerful movie. This movie guide comes with an answer key. Ready to print and ready to use! Enjoy!
