Description
Celebrate the New Year in a meaningful and engaging way! This resource includes two activities. One activity is a Fact Hunt and New Year’s Doodle Poster filled with facts. The other activity is a hanging “Countdown Mobile” filled with resolutions. With these activities, students will learn about the history of New Year’s, interesting facts about the day, and make connections to the holiday. They’ll create a doodle poster filled with facts and a hanging mobile.
About the Fact Hunt & New Year’s Doodle Poster
Students will learn critical facts about New Year’s Day while filling in a “Happy New Year!” Doodle Poster. They’ll be up on their feet, rotating around the classroom, collecting facts, and learning! The end result is a visually appealing and informative doodle-style poster about New Year’s Day. Its extra-long size, makes it fun, too!
About the New Year’s Resolution Countdown Mobile Project
Students will create a New Year’s Resolution project. The project will be a vertical “countdown” mobile. First, students will complete a set of planning pages as they develop different goals and resolutions based on the numbers 1-10. Then, they’ll turn their goals into a hanging “countdown” mobile. The project gives students a chance to make meaningful goals while they celebrate the beginning of a new year.
Both activities make great classroom displays, time capsule projects, or hallway art! Also, these activities can be combined and completed as a single lesson or spread over two days.
