Description

Ready to start 2024? Teach students to set goals using this fun, engaging activity as they start the New Year. Students will complete the activity by first reflecting on the prior year. Then they will brainstorm some of their favorite things about school. Next, they will set three goals for themselves for the upcoming year. Finally, the last tab asks them to think about what they can do to implement that goal.

Students will:

  • reflect on 2023
  • think about their favorite things
  • choose three goals
  • determine a path to meet their goals

This activity includes:

  • How to use instructions
  • Printable activity
  • Google Slides activity

How to use this activity:

  • Complete this activity before winter break so that students can talk about their goals when they arrive in the 2024 school year
  • Have students complete this activity in January. Then, revisit this activity throughout the year to determine progress toward achieving the goal.

This goal-setting activity will be updated every year so that you can use it over and over again in your classroom.

Feedback from Teachers:

  • This was a fun way to do "Checks and Balances" with my students' goals at the beginning of the new year and checking in before school was over.
  • A great resource for goal setting. These kids found it easy to follow and supplemented the lesson well.
  • Loved that my students could write their goals for this year. Thanks.
  • I love this and used it to help some of my high school students set goals for themselves. It also helps me get to know them better too!
  • These were a fun way to get my class to record a few of their goals for the new year! Thank you for sharing.
