Aligned to The Science of Reading:

Teaching CVC words is an essential part of early reading instruction and aligns with the research on the Science of Reading. The research suggests early years teachers start with phonics lessons to teach students to recognise and blend the sounds of individual letters to form CVC words.

CVC words lay the groundwork for teaching early reading skills. By concentrating on these basic words, children can practice applying their understanding of letter sounds to read words accurately. This foundational focus on CVC words not only enhances the ability to decode words but also strengthens phonics skills and overall reading capabilities.
