Description

This product contains 4 brief (each is only one to one-and-a-quarter page[s] long) Science scripts. These Natural Disasters scripts provide an overview of information about Earthquakes, Tsunamis, Tornadoes, and Hurricanes using a “Wild World of Weather” broadcast theme.

The text of the scripts appears in a 2-column format. (A look at the Preview copy will give you a strong idea of the total script and the information it contains.) Each script may be rehearsed and presented as its own piece or all 4 scripts may be rehearsed and presented with one following the other. A fluent and expressive read-through/performance of each script takes 3-4 minutes/12-15 minutes for all 4 scripts presented together.

Each script has 20 solo speakers and many parts for ALL so that teachers can use it with a whole class. (Note: You may add or subtract solo speakers to customize the script for the size of your group.)

Reading and rehearsing the script familiarizes students with some basic facts while also increasing reading fluency and engaging students in a dramatic approach to learning facts.

Students enjoy creating and performing gestures and sound effects where indicated in the stage directions. And—because they are working with scripts—they do not mind reading and re-reading the information.

For more details and tips about using these scripts with students, you may want to download the FREE copy of "CURRICULUM-BASED READERS THEATRE: A Guide to the Classroom Use of this Strategy" available in my store.
