Description

Native Americans Integrated Unit for Upper Elementary

This integrated unit of study focuses on Native American culture regions. The unit includes a reading skill lesson (Compare and Contrast), as well as a timeline activity. It includes 8 lessons and activities, including informational texts. The unit also includes a summative test. Everything needed to teach the material is included - just add pencils and crayons!

Lessons included are:

1. Compare & Contrast

2. Timeline

3. The First North Americans

4. Mesoamerican Civilizations

5. Cultures of the Arctic & Pacific Northwest

6. Cultures of Southwest

7. Cultures of the Plains & Eastern Woodlands

8. Native American Culture Traits Activity

A summative test is also included in the unit.

Lesson Overview, Answer Key, and Teaching Tips are also included, as well as suggested CCSS Reading Standards and NCSS social studies standards. 5th Grade Florida social studies standards are also included.

This unit could be used with grades 4, 5, and 6.

Flexible Use

In order to accommodate the needs or teachers and homeschool families, the lessons are included in three different formats.

1. Flipbook - The flipbook is a paper saver! It is made with 4 sheets of copy paper, printed back to back. Simply fold and staple!

2. Folded Book - In case teachers only want to use some of the lessons, they are also included in a folded book format. The folded book is made by copying the lessons back to back, cutting the pages in half, and stapling!

3. Lesson Pages - Just want a full page lesson? They are also included in a pdf as well as in Google Drive.
