Narrative Writing "Tell Them Your Story Cubes"

Teacher Notes:
1. "Tell Them Your Story Cubes" have many uses for the classroom. They can be used as classroom ice-breakers, problem solving, build creativity, speaking and listening skills, and promote literacy development.

2. Students simply tap on the nine different cubes on page 3. Each cube has six different pictures which leads to an almost unlimited amount of variations that students can use and create amazing stories. These stories can be shared with the class, shared as partners, or just kept for their own personal journals. This is also a fun way to have formative assessments for students writing. You can even edit the cubes and put your own pictures in them.

GAME RULES:
There are many ways to play "Tell Them Your Story Cubes" Here are a few suggested ways to have students let loose their creativity.
1. Touch all of the cubes and look at the images. Pick an image that will be the beginning for your story. Start with "Once upon a time...," make up a story that creatively links together all of the dice images.

2. Come up with a title or theme for a story. (Examples: "The Ocean Voyage," "Lost In Space," "Helping Others," "Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover.") Then tap all of the cubes and try to tell a story that relates back to the title or theme.

3. Divide the cubes on the screen up evenly between two players. Starting with one player and continuing in a circle, take turns touching the cubes and adding to the story based on the face up images. Stop after all nine cubes have been tapped.
