What educators are saying

This story is so cute and made simple for early Spanish learners! A great way to get to know the students during the first days of school!
I used this with K and 1st grade, and both grades loved it! They especially enjoyed seeing the animals in 'real life' (from the included video links) and acting out the story. Thank you!

Description

This story and extension activities can be used any time during the school year, however it is a good beginning of year lesson.

The story focuses on high-frequency questions and structures such as "¿Cómo te llamas?", "Me llamo" and "Gracias."

This story is great to help your students introduce themselves in Spanish. In the story Osito is in the mountains while he makes new friends they all ask him about his name and they all agree that is a beautiful name.

The goal of this story is not to learn the names of the animals but to learn how to respond to the question "¿Cómo te llamas?" and to celebrate names. This story includes a cultural component, showcasing some animals from the Andes: Oso de anteojos, cóndor de los Andes, chigüiro, zorrito. They are presented in the the diminutive form: osito, condorcito, zorrito, chigüirito.
