Description

First Grade NWEA Helper
It’s ready!!!!!!……I have been working feverishly this summer to complete one of the BEST NWEA help guides.
Our school recently changed to the NWEA testing for assessment of our students and I realized there just wasn’t much out there to help us know what areas this test would have emphasis on. This NWEA HELPER will have the First Grade NWEA RIT-Measurement and Geometry section math scores broken down into manageable areas that will have you "in the know" for what areas to emphasize.
You can direct your students in the correct skills areas to best help them increase their RIT scores. This helper will be so precise, you will be clued in to the exact vocabulary that will be used to give your students an added advantage.

Be sure to look at the other NWEA Helpers in the near future, as well as Kindergarten helpers!

Help your students rock this year's NWEA test by enhancing the necessary vocabulary and skills.

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Distinguish between defining attributes (e.g., triangles are closed and three-sided) versus non-defining attributes (e.g., color, orientation, overall size); build and draw shapes to possess defining attributes.
Compose two-dimensional shapes (rectangles, squares, trapezoids, triangles, half-circles, and quarter-circles) or three-dimensional shapes (cubes, right rectangular prisms, right circular cones, and right circular cylinders) to create a composite shape, and compose new shapes from the composite shape.
Partition circles and rectangles into two and four equal shares, describe the shares using the words halves, fourths, and quarters, and use the phrases half of, fourth of, and quarter of. Describe the whole as two of, or four of the shares. Understand for these examples that decomposing into more equal shares creates smaller shares.
