What educators are saying

I sorta used this for distance learning. I was at home and my students were at school and I did a Google Meets with them. It was a useful resource.

Description

An NGSS aligned webquest complete with videos, text, diagrams, images, and animations that students watch and use to respond to standard-based, free-response questions. Also includes a link to my Quizlet study set that students can use to review main vocabulary and body system functions. Covered standards and learning objectives are listed on the webquest as well as an introduction. This webquest is designed for use as a review of the body systems with emphasis on homeostasis, or maintenance of the internal environment, as emphasized within the NGSS life science & high school biology standards. HS-LS1-2 & HS-LS1-3. The webquest has one page per body system with 2-4 questions per system for a total of 20 questions:

Nervous

Muscular

Skeletal

Respiratory

Excretory

Circulatory

Digestive & Diabetes

Endocrine & Reproductive

Immune

Printable or shareable Worksheet for Students

All videos are hosted on the website so they do not require students to have Youtube access. The questions should take about 60 minutes to complete with watching the videos. Students will need individual headphones in order to listen to the videos in a classroom setting. Tested & functional on Chromebooks, PCs, and Macs.

Annual (school year) password to website given upon purchase. Share it with your students & their parents at no additional charge for one year.

NGSSMS-LS1-3
Use argument supported by evidence for how the body is a system of interacting subsystems composed of groups of cells. Emphasis is on the conceptual understanding that cells form tissues and tissues form organs specialized for particular body functions. Examples could include the interaction of subsystems within a system and the normal functioning of those systems. Assessment does not include the mechanism of one body system independent of others. Assessment is limited to the circulatory, excretory, digestive, respiratory, muscular, and nervous systems.
NGSSHS-LS1-2
Develop and use a model to illustrate the hierarchical organization of interacting systems that provide specific functions within multicellular organisms. Emphasis is on functions at the organism system level such as nutrient uptake, water delivery, and organism movement in response to neural stimuli. An example of an interacting system could be an artery depending on the proper function of elastic tissue and smooth muscle to regulate and deliver the proper amount of blood within the circulatory system. Assessment does not include interactions and functions at the molecular or chemical reaction level.
NGSSHS-LS1-3
Plan and conduct an investigation to provide evidence that feedback mechanisms maintain homeostasis. Examples of investigations could include heart rate response to exercise, stomate response to moisture and temperature, and root development in response to water levels. Assessment does not include the cellular processes involved in the feedback mechanism.
