What educators are saying

This resource brought the abstract to life! My students were completely engaged and understood the concept of constellations and why they are not visible year round.
Great resource to have! I was a little confused to begin with, but once I practiced with the content it was an awesome lesson.

These lessons are also part of a 5th Grade NGSS Space Bundle that cover 5-ESS1-1, 5-ESS1-2, and 5-PS2-1, found here.

This resource includes two lessons:

Lesson 1 is an advanced, optional lesson for 5th graders that introduces them to what causes the seasons. Students first complete a light intensity lab and then create a physical model in the classroom to learn about the revolution and tilt of the Earth's axis.

Lesson 2 is the performance expectation of 5-ESS1-2, analyzing patterns about the seasonal appearance of some constellations. Students observe star maps to find patterns, and then create a model to explain the causes for the patterns.

Both of the lessons include engaging, ready to print resources, including:

• Student Worksheets

• Answer Keys

• Detailed Teacher Guides

This resource includes non-editable PDFs and links to video tutorials.
