Mythological Creature Reader's Theater (Based on Miss Turie's Magic Creatures)

This is a reader's theater script based on the picture book, Miss Turie's Magic Creatures written by Joy Keller and illustrated by Richard Watson. I added more lines so that every character speaks a couplet, and then some text as an entire cast. It is perfect if your class is learning about mythological creatures from around the world. My students have loved dressing up and playing these characters as they try to get the audience to buy them from Miss Turie's pet store!

The script is written for 16 parts with the potential of a few more (there is also the option to write additional couplets for as many mythological creatures as needed for your cast). The script can also be edited to a much smaller size by simply omitting creatures.

This packet contains the following:

• Cast list split into partnerships (color-coded)
• Script (3 pages, also color-coded)
• Suggested seating chart for a performance
• Name tags per creature (cut out, hole punch, string them, and wear as a lanyard)
• Facts per creature that can be used for research and glued to the back of the name tag
• Instructions and other suggestions for the teacher
