Description

This project aims to teach Latin to students via the myths, legends, and histories that students actually want to read. Often these passages are too complex for entry level or even intermediate level students to understand, but this series' goal is to engage students through simplified versions of these works.

This chapter's grammar focus is on singular verbs in the present tense. It includes definitions for:

  • first person
  • second person
  • third person
  • tense
  • number
  • verbs of being

The story for this chapter is Pyramus and Thisbe. It has been broken into five parts with paintings and illustrations to give visuals. Each section also has vocab help and comprehension questions to easily check for understanding.

The chapter as a whole includes:

  • example sentences
  • grammar section on present tense singular verbs
  • grammar practices
  • Story 1: Pugnantēs Familiae (Fighting families)
  • Story 2: Frāctus Mūrus (A broken wall)
  • Story 3: Coniūrātiō (The Plot)
  • Story 4: Gravis Paenula (A Heavy Cloak)
  • Story 5: Lea Dormiēns (The sleeping Lioness)
  • A culture section with information and pictures on Roman homes: insola, domus, villa urbana, villa rustica
  • A key concepts page that has the grammar definitions and key story vocab at a glance

This chapter could be used as extra enrichment, extra credit, for projects, or to teach students the content in a comprehensive yet welcoming way. This would be a great resource for teachers using any textbook at any level or for homeschoolers who want extra help for their students on this topic.
