Description

This is the first chapter of the textbook I am working on. The goal of this project is to make myths, fables, and histories more accessible to students. Many students are unable to access these key texts in Latin until they are far into their Latin careers. Although these texts are difficult, they are also some of the most engaging things for students. That's why I decided to create a series that allows students with little knowledge to have access to such influential and engaging stories.

This chapter covers the Orpheus and Eurydice myth, nominative and accusative nouns, and it has a culture reading on Roman pottery. It is designed to introduce students with no knowledge of Latin.

The story is broken up into eight example sentences and five short readings. Each reading has vocabulary help and comprehension questions. There are also reference photos of paintings, sculptures, and pottery to add to student understanding.

This chapter can be used to teach students nominative and accusative cases or as supplemental material.
