Mystery Genre: A Reading Workshop Unit

This Reading Workshop Mystery SMART board unit includes colorful and interactive lessons on the following:
Mystery Vocabulary: 3 teaching slides, 2 gameactivity- slides
Predicting: Using the mentor book Grandpa's Teeth to practice the predicting skills of STOP, WONDER, PREDICT
Inferring: Using samples from Midnight for Charlie Bone to practice making inferences
Context Clues: Using Encyclopedia Brown samples to practice the technique.
Cause/Effect: Students learn and practice by highlighting the cause and effect in mystery character sentences.
The unit concludes with links to mystery authors/books-Andrew Clements, Boxcar Children, A-Z Mysteries, Charlie Bone, Encyclopedia Brown
It also includes 5 pages of attached worksheet activities
